There are two things I really like about this book. The first is the presentation of the true history of Hapkido. The second is that each self-defense technique is clearly and completely described. This book is a great source of reference on Hapkido.

Highly recommend it to anyone interested in Hapkido (especially beginners). Book includes a good history of Hapkido, and as well some basic dojang rules. The author provides just enough information on the history, philosophy and instruction of Hapkido for the reader to decide whether it is a combat system suitable for them warranting further examination. The techniques present are all sound and basic and so this book not only is great for the advance-student, it is better for a novice as it gives a clear (b&w) photos to better understand.

A prolific writer, Mr. Tedeschi's landmark publications rank with the finest ever produced on the healing and martial arts. Yes the book is probably the best intro to Hapkido that I've seen. It covers the general points of Hapkido, and goes into enough details that you would be happy with it. It shows a handful of techniques for different attacks, the different parts of the hand and foot to strike with and general way of how to strike with those according to Hapkido style.

To the very best of my knowledge, without a question, this book is the best work on Hapkido I have had the good fortune to study. The photo layouts and such are very clear and well done, making it very easy to reference the material. For students of GM Myung's system, I imagine this is a very handy reference. For martial artists of other Hapkido schools (or other traditions) it presents a grand survey of what Hapkido is from its physical techniques. It's one of my best books about Hapkido.
